Hello everyone,

I am not new to this website but I did just subscribe. I love this forum. So much information. So, I recently purchased a Fender Telecaster 52 Reissue MIA for $600 from ebay. No case, no COA, and no case candy. The first thing I did was to check the authenticity but after some research I found these teles to lack basic information since they are spec'd to the '52 tele. She plays AWESOME. Feels great and everything seems to indicate that she is authentic (waterslide decal on top of nitro on neck, vintage wiring, overall feel, etc) but from the bodies and necks I have seen on ebay, mine seem to differ a little. For starters, the body has a date of JUL 2004( i believe) when the guy claimed it was 2009 but no visible stamp dates are seen in the bodies being sold on ebay. The neck is also lacking the paper sticker and has no date visible. It does have a name I can quite make out. I tried punching in the serial number on the guitar dater project site but it actually said I had an original 1961 pre CBS tele which is obviously not my guitar. I know the serial number on these guitars are on the bridge but is there any other place I can find some more information or at least test the authenticity? I will try and post pictures tomorrow. Either way, she feels and sound great. Any help will be much appreciated! THANKS!

Pics would help alot! It is hard to say without seeing the guitar. Hey, even if you got a really great partscaster for $600 you did good. Parts can get pricey plus all the labor of building the darn thing. Post pics when you get a chance.

Ok. I finally got to taking some pics of the tele. It was only after I downloaded them that I found them to be quite blurry. Check them out though. The neck pocket on the body has a series of numbers that read 181354 with a date of JUL 31 2007 and a name that seems to say something like Garduno. The neck heel has no paper sticker as I've seen others have but does seem to have an illegible date. Kind of looks like 2007 but that's about all I can make out. Along with some other markings I can not make out as well. There are, however, stickers with bar codes and number codes on the bottom. I didn't take the pickguard off but I can see one in the neck cavity as well. Is it possible that on some neck heels Fender didn't put the white stickers? If anyone can enlighten my confusion I'd GREATLY appreciate it. AND AGAIN, SORRY ABOUT THE BLURRINESS.

Thanks again!

That has more of a USA look to me. Does the back of the headstock have anything on it? A small round or oval Fender logo? Maybe someone bought an authentic Fender body and neck and did the build themselves. I remember Fender selling bodies and necks there for a while but I don't know if it was in 2007 though. The elctronics look like they've been altered. I don't think the caps are correct and the knobs don't look right. If you really like the guitar then $600 is fair. Enjoy it!!

I don't think Fender ever sold bodies or necks to the public. I know you can buy an authorized by Fender neck etc. from several vendors but without serial numbers. If I'm wrong let me know.
