I just got back from the San Antonio Vintage Guitar and Instrument Show, where I picked up this beauty: a 2006 Fender 60th-Anniversary Edition ‘72 Telecaster Deluxe.

Very nice, rrh. Yep, you do have your 'asters covered now. :)

I fell under the spell of an all black '72 Tele Deluxe Reissue earlier this summer. Talk about a G.A.S. attack. It was right after the price dropped to pre 2009 levels and it had to come home with me.

Enjoy!

John

Honestly, it doesn't sound much like a Tele. The humbuckers give it a much throatier tone. On the clean channel of my Super Champ XD, it sounds very nice. On the drive channel, it sounds downright raunchy--and I mean that in a good way. I really like it. 8)

Those Humbuckers must have a much darker sound than the usual single coil pups, bet it sings.
Enjoy,

Sweet! ...and, how can raunchy be a bad thing?

When it comes to guitars, I guess you're right. Suffice it to say that this bad boy is a thing of beauty! 8)

Nice turn of a phrase, john.bohn. Yes, I always cover my 'aster. :)

Hello RussianRacehorse,

GAS attack at a guitar show? :D

That is a nice looking tele but I gotta say it
"Chuck the bag and get a hard shell case"
but I know you already know.

Best of luck with it

Cheers.

Hey Mr Bill! This was more of a premeditated act than a true GAS attack. I've been eyeing the Tele Deluxe for some time, especially in any color but black. I told my wife that I would buy this guitar if I found it for under $700 (They go for $800 and higher on eBay). This one had a $650 price tag on it, so I plugged it in and started putting it through its paces. I told the guy I wanted to look around some more (which was true--I had just gotten there), upon which he immediately said he could go as low as $550 cash. I just blinked and said, "You've made me an offer I can't refuse." A quick dash to the ATM, and it was mine. And it turned out to be the only Tele Deluxe in the room, so my haste didn't hurt me.

As for the bag, that's just something he threw in for me to get it home. I have a nice tweed case for future use. 8)
