Last year I had Marty Stuart autograph my Nashville Telecaster I bought on E=bay a few years ago. I bought some polyeurothane to spray over & protect the autograph. while I still play it. Now how do I do this?
I learned my lesson with that Tele on E-bay. When I asked the seller if it was made in the USA, he wouldn't answer me. I ended up with it at $450.00 as no one else bid against me the entire night. It is in NM condition. It came in a Musicians Friend gi bag with a cord & a pre-amp. Later I was looking in the box it came with & found a note from the seller. In lieu of not answering your question, I sent this pre-amp with it.
I went to my local music store & talked to them about it & they said you could have bought a new one for that.
Thanks

What part of your Tele did he autograph?

A lot of players get autographs on the pickguard, then swap it out and preserve the autographed one.

If you are looking at it, He signed the top right coner above the neck in a silver pen.

Don't know how good the spray will be, but will it make a mess of the finish on your instrument? If you value that less than preserving the signature, well then I guess you've nothing to lose. Perhaps you could get a piece of perspex or similar translucent plastic, neatly cut and secured over the signature area?

Bill Nelson (Be-Bop Deluxe) was kind enough to sign the backplate of one of my strats at one of his rare gigs. He used a good spirit based marker (which I provided) and after 2 yrs or so it's just as clear and unfaded as the day he signed it. I put the backplate back on the guitar - didn't seem much point in having a guitar signed and then not having the signature there on the instrument..
