I bought this new, mexican made, thinline tele a few years ago without any research on it. I just couldn't pass up on the sweet colour :D

Anyways, I've tried looking it up but I can seem to get any solid info on it. Even the serial # doesn't match up to anything on this website. According to http://www.fender.com/support/mexican_instruments.php all the mexican tele's are "+ 5 digits" but mine has 6. The serial # is MZ2116032.

According to http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx it was made in 2002-2003. But the closest thing I can find to my guitar are the '69 reissues (http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0136902306), but according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Telecaster_Thinline) those weren't made until 2004.

I'm thoroughly confused. Can anyone help me out?

Just going by the photo, it's a MIM '69 Thinline Reissue. I'm pretty sure that they were made in 2002, sometime Wikipedia can be wrong of course.

Agreed. It's one of the FSR (Fender Special Run or Factory Special Run) '69 Thinlines from 2002 that Guitar Center (I think) and Musicians Friend (I know) sold in five colors that hadn't been available on the '69 Thinlines previously:

Lake Placid Blue
Candy Apple Red
Sea Foam Green
Shell Pink
and Daphne Blue, I think - not sure that's the exact color name

Previous thread about these, with pictures:

I remember those from the Musicians Friend website at the time. I had just started playing guitar (it was a strat-copy) and used to hang around websites drooling in front of pictures of Teles.. ops.. just happened again

the pink is my favorite from the above!

Can anyone remember how much they costed back then? If the memory serves me well, they were like 500,00$...

Also remember the Blue Floral Tele and Strat being available by that period..

I think mine was between $600 and $650 CDN but I don't remember exactly.

I just read the other thread on these '69 reissues and it seems they are much rarer then I thought, but I couldn't quite figure out what exactly the consensus was on the rarity of these guitars.

Csapo, or anyone else, can you clarify that for me?

Thanks :D
