Thanks again guys.

MagicRat - yes, you've got the idea. I scanned my 8 hole pickguard into photoshop, recolored it to a charcoal black/gray color and added the "man under the streetlight" scene on it. Then I outlined the border and the "man under the streetlight" scene with a lighter gray. It looked great. So I printed it out on matte photo paper with a finished back, cut it out - turned out perfect. Used double sided tape to apply it to the plastic pickguard, poked in the screw holes and attached it to the guitar. The matte finish really looks good and it wears well (I've been playing it almost every day for three weeks and the PG still looks great). You just can't sweat on it or get it wet - but you could laminate it with satin finish plastic if you want to gig with it. It's a great stop-gap until I can acquire a leather one. People that see the guitar in person can't believe it's a print out - they gotta touch the pickguard.

I got some info posted to me on another forum by Chunhall about the whereabouts of Bruces c1975 PG with the "MUTS" scene.. He posted the following link:
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/ ... rket_booms
The link is to an article on rock memorabilia. In a paragraph about 1/2 way down the 1st page, the article says a New York dealer/collector by the name of Kosinski has "the worn leather pick-guard that was on Springsteen's famous Fender Esquire guitar throughout the Seventies".

Thanks Chunhall.

Some new info on the BTR PG - Kosinski says it's been sold to another private collector. Probably won't be seeing that anytime soon.

Back on the mod - A buddy of mine found a leather worker that says he can handle a reproduction of the BTR PG. He wants 2 to 3 weeks or so to do the work. Located the guy at a renaissance fair, of all places. I'm hoping it turns out well. I'll post pics when I get it.

Hello Big Kahune,

Sounds promising, I'm looking forward to
some photos. I just may spring for one myself
if they are affordable. Many thanks.

Cheers.

I've had a lot of requests for a better image of the pickguard I made. So, check it out below - it's a full size printout image of the pickguard.

Hello Big Kahune,

Thanks a bunch,
Are we looking at this scene through a brown screen door?
I think I see a doorknob and lock.

Cheers.

Yes, it sure looks like that. In the closeup of the BTR pickguard scene I posted on page #1, if you save the pic and zoom, you can see both the same details. And it looks to me, as it does to you, the view is through a door with a large glass insert or screen.

Still waiting to hear on the leather job.

Hey binterz

glad you like it.

Got word from the leather I hired that he just started work on my pickguard. I'll post a pic or two after it's delivered.

Hello,

I'm am brand new to this forum so please forgive me if I appear ignorant or in any way inappropriate.

I have just aquired a telecaster body that someone was trying to pass off as a Joe Strummer. I knew it was not and picked it up for $100, stripped it and began trying to identify what it is. What perked my curiosity was its likeness to a 50's type being ash and being routed in what I believe to be the 50's pattern.

I have exhausted all search option outside here to if someone doesn't mind I would like to see a photo of a legitemate '50's bare body tele. I don't know the original owner and there is no serial number or other markings. This body was loaded with what appears to be a 50's style bridge and 6 saddles. It appears that someone made this a string through body as the holes are not perfectly in line which would indicate a 50's style body.

When I figure out how to post photos, I will do so.

Thanks, RB.

Here's a link to a 52 RI Tele body for sale on ebay. Note there are two pickup routes, and the neck pup route is open to the neck mounting slot/channel. There is also a route that angles from the neck pup route to the control pocket route, but doesn't directly connect to the other routes (there's drilled holes on both ends that connec to the neck pup and control pocket routes). The body is string through and viewing the back you can see flush mounted string ferrules. BTW, a 50s bridge setup would typically be a tray pan with upright edges on 3 sides so the 'Bridge Cover' can be attached, and three (3) brass saddles.

Posting pics: you need a host like Photobucket (free). You upload your pics to the host and then add a direct link to the image in your forum post by using the "Img" button.

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased an American Telecaster it's serial numbers
tell me that it is a 2005 model because they start with a Z for the new
millinium. But I can not find a price for what they cost new.
If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it greatly.
I love the guitar but I would like to know it's cash value.

Jimmy C.

Hi Jimmy - American Standard, American Deluxe or "Made in USA"?

New AS around $1100, new AD around $1600

"Made in USA" depends on the model.

You might want to post this question on the main Tele forum.

I am having a difficult time navigating, so I hope this gets posted. I thank you for your rapid respons...very unexpected and much appriciated. I have an issue. I am data rich and wisdom poor, but as I understand from research, the channel to which you refer was not implemented until post 1970 in USA manufactured Tele's. Let me post a picture so that we may continue this very appriciated discussion. RB.
