My parents said that if I get a second guitar, it will need to last me at least 7 more years. It has to be in the 300- 600 range. I know. When I played a Tele at the music store, I fell in love with them. So a good, relatively inexpensive Tele that will last me a while. I want you guys' opinions because theres so many Teles out there.
Thanks y'all Telemasters!

Hello GuitarBassist11,

Well any Fender guitar is gonna last you 7 years
unless your playing in a coal mine or steel mill.

Mexican standards are good guitars I have owned
mine for about 12 years with no problems, of course
I only play in my parlor. There are a few models out
there in your price range each with it's own features.
The standards ok for me.

Cheers.

With that budget, you should be able to find a nice pre-owned Deluxe Nashville Tele with some left over maybe.

With that price range, you really should look at some used guitars. Even if they are not beat up, they'll still usually be $200 or so less than the new price for the same guitar. Check ebay (make sure you can trust the seller and make sure there is a return policy) and guitar stores near you.

I would recommend the classic 50s tele or 72 tele custom.

Just wondering, what guitar do you have that didn't last 7 years and/or what are you doing to this guitar that might not make it last at least 7 years?

Squier Standard Teles are great bang for the buck if you are on a very tight budget, and should last at least 7 years as long as its treated properly and with respect. I honestly think just about any guitar will last 7 years as long as its not kept outside, stored properly, treated kindly, and with respect...

You could throw your Telecaster down the stairs for 2555 straight days and it would still play perfectly.

Note: the previous sentence is hyperbolic.

But still. You'll do well with either a new Mexican Standard; and if buying new is of no real importance, you might find a good deal on a top-shelf Mexican, or even American, model.

I play a Mexican Tele myself, and I think it's a wonderful guitar.

i believe what your parents are saying (just my opinion)
is that you need to get one you will be satisfied a get a
lot of use of and won't get bored with
which if that is the case
you can not go wrong with a telecaster so you are in the right place
(even though i am strat guy i'll admit sometimes the tele
is more fun to play)
you should think about a used one that feels good
to you whatever you do play it for a day then sleep on it
come back and check it out
(i played my american strat 3 days in a row and even
lugged my amp in to the store to make sure i wanted
but with the price tag i had to maker sure it will last me
a lifetime i won't sell it ) good luck to you

Classic Vibe, Standard.. I recommend you to try them first, instead of buying online.

And in 7 years you will probably be working and will have some money to buy another one if you want!?

'Agree with you gotta try it first. period, end of story.

And any Fender Tele should last for decades if you take decent care.

Best of fortune.

Just about any Tele is a good Tele I have a MIM Tele I bought used for $450 with a maple neck and it sings. As for durability I remember an interview Pete Townshend did in the halcyon days of the Who he said that the Tele was the hardest guitar to wreck conversly the Gibson Les Paul was dismissed as flimsy.Any guitar though should be treated with the utmost of care then you can rest assured it will last a lifetime.
