Hey guys I just ordered my first Tele and am sad to say I really have limited knowledge of these beauties. I got an MIM standard and as I can never leave well enough alone my mod plans have already started. I have ordered a tusq nut and schaller lockers already. Shortly I will probably upgrade to BKP's, Fralin's or Lollar's. My question is should i go for a vintage type bridge or stay with the six saddle bridge? I want a hot rod Tele type tone from this guitar. I am sure the individual saddles must ontonate better, but do they take away from that Tele twang? The 3 saddle vintage styles seem to be pretty cheap and I'm sure would probably be an easy swap when changing the pickups. Thanks.

I would just wait and see how the guitar is before modding. Most of my Teles have 6 saddle bridges, and one has 3 barrel compensated saddles which help with the intonation issues...I can't tell any difference.

If you go for the 3 saddle bridge, its an easy swap if you get an entire new bridge plate, otherwise you will need to drill 3 holes in the stock bridge plate for the 3 barrels to go into...which may or may not be easy depending on what skills you have and/or what tools you have access to...

I think I will stick with the 6 saddle for ease of intonation, but if I do decide I would probably get the whole bridge plate. I would have no problem drilling holes in the stock plate though.
