Go to Products, right under the Fender logo at the upper left of this screen. Select Telecasters and then find the model you want. Select it and when the page loads, go down to Specs and click that. It will show you the pickups in each model.

Example:

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0110502721

Scroll down and click on Specs

thanks for the info i appreciate it, i did take a look and the specs are just generalized and real not specific

here is what they said about the Standard Tele

Pickups: 2 Hot Standard Tele® Single-Coil Pickups (Neck & Bridge)

now we all know there are 2 distinct different pickups on the tele, yet they are not described,

if anyone else knows what kind of pickups are on the Standard Tele please let me know

cheers

That's what they're called. If you're looking for more details try Harmony Central. They may have them listed under pickup reviews.

They are ceramic and have no baseplate. Don't know about the newer models, but up to 2006 they were rather thin sounding, but twanged quite well.

The American Standards have alnico V with no baseplate.
American Deluxes have the samarium-cobalt noiseless pickups, the 52ri has "Original Vintage" with alnico III magnets and a baseplate, so almost every model has different pickups from each other. The Classic series have also alnico V pickups w/ no baseplate, but these are not the same as in American Standards.

At a time or another, more than 1 model from different series had the same pickups, per example, the older Highway 1 Strats and the Classic Series Strats had the same pickups. Highway 1s from 2006 and ahead have "hot alnico III" pickups.

It depends on the model, but generally speaking MIA Standards have AlNiCo V Pickups, while MIM Standards have Ceramic pickups. MIMs are less bright, less Tele-sounding, high output pickups that do NOT nail the classic Tele sound we all search for when buying a tele. I have a MIM standard tele and i swapped the PUs with MIA alnico V and that completely changed the sound of my guitar. Now it sounds like a tele.

CLassic series MIMs, however, mount great alnico pickups, so there's no reason to change them on those models.
