I have a custom tele duluxe without s1. I have seen wiring diagrams on guitar interiors.... . does ALL the wiring need to be replaced/changed in order to add S1....??? Anyone think S1 is unnecessary?

Can anyone guess what this might cost to have installed?
Is it complicated? I have an aptitude for wiring...but how complicated is it?
Can't find info online.
thanks in advance
ron

There is a wiring diagram here http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/pdf_temp1/telecaster/0141502A/SD0141502APg2.pdf, as welll as the parts list with Fender part numbers (which you can use to order S-1 pot, for example) on that site.

I hardly ever use out of phase sound... but YMMV.

Doesn't your Tele have a 3-way switch? The diagram of the Baja w/ S1 switch, includes a 4-way switch, which may be more complex.

I have a Baja, and the series position is VERY useful; it sounds like a humbucker. The out of phase sound, on both series and parallel connections are less useful. A 3-way switch won't offer the out-of-phase sounds; only parallel, and w/ the S1 switch down you'll get series, in the #2 position(both pickups on).

Check this link:http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/pdf_temp1/telecaster/0101600_02A/SD0101600_02APg4.pdf

If all you are looking to add is the Series option via the S-1, It might be easier just to get a 4-way switch.

By the way, if anyone has any good links to 4-way Tele switch diagrams, please let me know.
