Mine was a friend's 66 Tele. The first "Tele" I owned was a no name copy of a thinline. Great sounding guitar as I remember it.

Hi, guys!!
New to the forum, pleasure to be here!
My 1st Tele was a Mex I bought in a shop where actually I wanted to buy some VERY cheaps look-like-a-Tele-but-it-is-not-a-Tele guitar for a few bucks!
Hanging around and wondering which color I would choose, I saw on a remote shelf that Candy Apple Red 60'S Tele-Mex just waiting for me. They let me try it for about an hour... What a thrill ! This sounded just like the sound I was looking for... Everything was here... and I left with it (on my motorbike!)
This guitar was feeling so good in my hands that I decided to go for a Us one. So I found that guy selling his C-A-R Tele US and I bought it from him. With it, could I finally play "Halleluya" of J.Buckley. I am the king of (my) world!!!!
When friends come home to make some noise, one of them, former pro bass guitar player, only plays with the Tele-Mex... Says the sound is better!
Me? Depends!... I switch from Tele to Strat or Les Paul Studio, depending on my mood!
Hope this helps,
Frenchie

An early 90's Mexi-Tele. It wasn't a very good guitar. Lousy electronics and would never stay in tune. I think I was playing through an 80 watt Peavey amp. That amp was clean and bright. The Mexi-Tele was bright and tinny. Real Brittle. Thankfully my next guitar was a used American Strat and eventually I went back to better Teles.

The first Tele I ever played was back around 1976 it was a 1960 or 61 Tele. It belonged to my best friends Dad. He was a Gibson player and wasn't much on Fenders...There wer 10 kids in that family and EVERYONE played. They had some primo gear...I remember some big Gibson Archtops and some Strats and Jazzmasters too...Most had to be Pre-CBS too.

My first Tele was a 76 Deluxe I got as a backup guitar in 83. It was thrashed too, Paid 80 bucks for it. Never stayed in tune because the neck and bridge screws were almost stripped out. Fixed it by putting pieces of toothpicks in the hole...then injecting some carpenters wood glue into the hole let it dry for 3 hours and put it together, the screws went in a lot snugger, and it solved the really bad tuning issue.

Bought my first new Tele in 1989 and never played the Deluxe again. Sold it in 1992 For 200.00 The only guitar I have never regretted selling

I'm not sure what was the first Tele I've played, although I'm sure it was likely an MIM model. My first Tele that I bought is a Sherwood Green Metallic/Rosewood Squier Standard Fat Telecaster, then I have a Fender Standard Telecaster and recently added a used and heavily modified Squier Affinity Tele to my collection.

a beat up old Squier. I played it and liked it (for a Squier  )
I eventually bought my own American Tele and it's nice to play for a change (my main axe is a Strat)

Hello Miami Mike,

Back in the seventy's my pal Joe got one of
those tele's with the f-hole in the top half.
I don't remember the model but it was a
super guitar. Iwonder where it is today.

Cheers

My son came home with a 1980's Japanese remake of the James Burton Pink Paisley Telecaster. His buddy owed him $75 and asked to take the guitar to pay off the debt. One of the tuners was seriously bent and knocked out of place, but I fixed that. Also, it needed a major setup, which I also fixed. When I played it, well, I've wanted a Telecaster of my own ever since. I'm in the process of fixing that, too. 8)
