hey i was wondering if your guy's teles can handle hard rock such as guns n roses, nirvana, green day, etc. aka distorted power chords and such (also can it get a darker sound). because i like the tele a lot and i like the woody neck and the jangle but if it can't handle the harder stuff too i guess i'll have to pass on it :cry: btw i'm looking into the highway one. also have you guys tried a mini humbucker in the bridge?

The Hwy 1 Tele has Alnico 5 pickups. I think that and a good tube amp, along with a pre-amp will get you in that area nicely. Good luck.

If you can swing it, go for the American Deluxe. I play in a band that plays every thing from Haggard to ZZ Top. The American Deluxe has the S1 switch with SCN pickups and with the S1 in the down position and the switch in the middle it gives off an awesome humbucker tone that you can rock with. As stated, a tube amp will do wonders for your tone also. Nothing says Tele more than a Maple fret board. It is just Classic!

The 72 Deluxe is a good alternative and about half the price. It has two Humbuckers and is a real rocker!

Boss Tremelo
Awesome Combination!

also the baja tele and the 69 reissue are options (but i would really prefer not to pay 800 for a mim)

also i really hate country music tone on a electric and the tele really seems to specialize in that so do you think i'm better of with a different guitar?

it's prolly weird that someone who likes this kind of music would want a fender, well i like the fender clean tones especially the jangle and neck pup which work well for rhcp and nirvana but i like the gibson distortion for foo fighters and guns n roses stuff. i kno the best option would be to get both but i am on a very low budget and will only be able to afford one guitar for the next few years... unless i win the lottery :wink:

I own a Baja Tele and it's great. With the S-1 switch you've got more
sound options. It also has a 4-way switch for series/paralel mode when
using both pickups.
I paid euro 550,- for it and it's worth every euro.

Peter :)

For a little different twist look for a used telesonic. Throw a tele in with a bit of a gretsch add a hint of les paul and your there. It can rock hard and still give up fantastic clean tones.

Look at a FMT HH. Twin humbuckers (they split).

I picked up a used one in mint condition for $300.

Hey the texas specials are pretty nice for a heavier sound. But if you want a really good chunck sound go with a seymour pearly gates. You can get one on ebay used rather cheap. I have played a tele with a PG in the bridge and it rocks. My only strat is has a pg in the bridge it smokes
