Hello everyone. I have taken the plunge into electrics after playing acoustic for several years. Trying to take my aching joints into account. Bought a 2005 Nashville and a Princeton Chorus used, but in very good condition. As I am prone to do, I went about adjusting the tele to factory specs. Truss rod, string height, pickup height, intonation, etc. By the way the strings are Ernie Ball 10-46.
After I was finished I still had some fret buzz and the adjusters on the saddle were real high or so it seemed. I laid my straight edge on the frets and the neck seemed to be running slightly uphill toward the bridge. Well, I removed the neck, which fit very snugly in the pocket and saw no issues. I decided to make a .010 shim from an old feeler gauge and put it between the screws on the headstock side of the pocket and reinstalled the neck. Reset everything and it seems much better.
Is this fairly common? Did I go about it the right way?
Thanks for any and all input.
Ed

You did what I would have done.

I've also found that shimming a neck, even with the slighest thing such as a post-it note, will make a difference!
