So I was changing the strings on my Tele (Am Std) and a few of the ferrules fell out! I guess that's not such a big deal since they stayed in after the guitar was strung up, but still...Anyway to fix this?

Also, my input jack is very loose. I had this same problem on my Mexican Standard Tele and the metal ring in the input jack just fell out on it. How can I fix and prevent this?!

Thanks everyone!

My string ferrules fall out when I change the strings. The strings are what hold them in place. Ferrules are only in place so the strings don't dig into the body. As for the input jack, just tighten it.

I hate to tell you this but the ferrules are press fit into the body and should not fall out when you change the strings. That's why they are ribbed. I would apply a small dab of wood glue on them next time you change the strings. Be careful not to apply to much. As for the Jack there should be a plate that sits behind the jack cup with teeth that bit into the body when the jack is tightened to the cup you may need to pull the control plate to fix this problem. Some of these issues may be caused by humidity (or lack of) Good Luck

The Output Jack problem on the Telecaster can be solved by using one of these. There's nothing worse than wanting a Tele fix and not being able to plug in!

http://www.marshallparts.com/products/755/Electrosocket.htm

They aren't "Stock Original" but after putting them onto both of my Teles, there hasn't been a problem since.

Yeah, the Electrosocket jack is really the way to go if you want to solve the input jack problem forever. Here's another source for this part.

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_p ... Mount.html

and one of these (mono): http://www.stewmac.com/shopby/product/4652

Ferrules fall out of some Teles and are snug in others. A dab of Elmer's Glue will hold them in just fine.

Wow thanks for the link George. I'm building two Tele partscasters. I've been looking for some reasonalby priced nitro finish I wish I had this a little earlier. I don't want to use poly so I started to use a high quality lacquer but it's acrylic not nitro. I'm to far along on this body to start over plus this was already stained when I got it so I've stripped the body once, and it's a flame top maple veneer. I'm afraid I'd ruin it It will still be a thin skin finish, just not quite the same aging qualities.

Oh, you found their finishing supplies? Cool.

Here's another good site for finishing supplies and knowledge:

First I ever heard of the string ferrels falling out. As for the jack, I always switch out to an oval or square Les Paul or Gibson, flat flush jack and it seems to have solved the problems of loose jacks. The Electrosocket looks interesting and may have to re-consider one in any future teles.

How old is your Am Std Tele? I have a MIM Baja, and the quality seems above average. But I thought that MIA fenders were better, in the opinions on this website. I haven't had either of these problems for the 2+ years I've had the Baja.
