What is the general feeling of how the strings load on Telecasters. Some are top loading and others are string-through body. In your opinion, what affect does each have on the tone, assuming all stock parts and ash body ?

I would rather have string through body. It's just more practical on a telecaster.

Do you think it affects the tone, and how ?

I've owned an '83 Toploader Tele and just purchased an '04 string through and seem to get a lot better sustain out of the string through, that could just be me though! Hope this helps

String through body is classic Fender. I agree that it gives more sustain and better tone. Also, try the Ernie Ball Classic Slinky Strings (gauge 10); they last longer, work well with string through body, and give you a nice, balanced tone.

I agree about the bride and loading, but i have to disagree on the strings. I use GhS boomers low tune, that is the only thing i can keep in tune based on the way i play! I bend like mad. they last longer and stay sounding sweeter!
