Being an Avid bass player I decided to buy myself my first six string a few years back (squire affinity tele) for the heck of it. I love the sound of it for a cheap guitar however I can no longer tolerate the neck. The buzzing is horrendous and the intonation is lost by the 5th fret! I've tried setting it up myself and I've even taken it to my luthier and his suggestion was to get a new neck. I've done this before with two of my basses and couldn't be happier with the results. Now my question is... MIM tele neck? Or go the extra mile for an American neck? I'd rather not dish out for a whole new guitar (maybe replace the pickups down the road) Is there a noticeable difference between the two? Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Andy

Fender will not sell you a Telecaster neck. You're left with Warmoth and, I believe, a few other places that sell Fender-licensed necks. They're not exactly cheap, but they're good quality. They also will not come with any decals, so keep that in mind as well.

It might be worth posting a wanted ad on your local Craigslist or Kijiji.

In my view, not worth a new neck. Return the guitar if it possible, if not (as seems to be the case) get another guitar, a Standard or Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe per example.

Andy,

If you decide to get a new neck, I have a maple MIM neck with tuners for sale. I put a rosewood neck on my Tele and have no use for the maple neck.

Email me if interested.... spendygraft1@hotmail.com
