I see that fender has made a new telecaster deluxe model. now featuring a tremolo, just like what strats have. i'm now wondering why they don't make a new model with a bigsby trem instead of a strat trem. it wouldn't be too hard to sell now would it?

because the bigsby though cool looking is lame unless you are comfortabnle smoothing down the rough machining where the strings contact the bigsby and can do a good job of it and make sure you have a set of strings with a wound G as the bigsby doesnt like anything else

That's just not true. A Bigsby isn't designed for "divebombs" and it can't take the abuse that a Strat trem can. On the other hand, I don't think a Strat trem sounds nearly as good as a properly-installed Bigsby.

And though Fender only makes one (?) Tele model with a Bigsby, they're easy to retrofit. A good tech could probably do it in fifteen minutes, and I would have no serious problem attempting it - despite my limited technical skills - myself. If you want a Bigsby, I'd say buy one and slap it on. Keep in mind though, that this modification is irreversible: your guitar will have holes drilled into it. Just something to keep in mind.

I have a Candy Apple Red 60's Custom Tele with Bigsby (MIJ).

It plays very nicely and the vibrato arm is easily left in the position I want it in. The Bigsby is smooth and responsive. Never had a tuning or string breakage problem.

Only complaint is that I had to special order a case from G & G so the Bigsby had room to allow the case lid to close.
