Based on versatility and features, which of the following would you choose if you were gonna have one Tele in your "collection" and guitar is a hobby, not a profession, for you :

MIA Std (2006 model but its new), no case included
Deluxe Nashville Tele (2007 model, new) with deluxe gig bag

Yeah, I know the best way is to try them both, then pick the one that chooses me... but, I want to get your perspective. Thanks!

I know everyone suggest the one that they have so I'm doing the same thing. I suggest the MIA Standard but I've never played on a Nashville so I'm not much help! :) What type of pickups do each one have? I've got Alnico V's in my 08 and I am satisfied with them. Teles are such a different experience in sound than my strats.

The Nashville Tele (MIM) has the following pickups:

2 Tex-Mex™ Single-Coil Tele® Pickups (Neck and Bridge),
1 Tex-Mex Single-Coil Strat® Pickup (Middle)

The one I'm considering is honey blonde, ash body, maple neck.

The AM Std is Candy Cola and, since its a 2006, doesn't have the same features as the current Am Std. I can't remember now if it has a rosewood or maple neck...

That Nashville is looking pretty sweet. Hard decision to make. I guess you have to do as they all say and that's to play both and evaluate if possible. Good luck my friend! :)

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the Nashville Tele. Gotta play it first, though.... I'll be paying off one layaway (Am Deluxe Strat, finally) on Friday so that'll open up a spot if I want to do another layaway... :)

In that case you've got to add a tele sound to your arsenal!

Having owned a Nashville and currently owning a Am Std. I'm going to chime in here on the side of getting the Am.Standard. You already own a Deluxe Strat. I think that the MIM is going to be a drag as in any comparison to the Deluxe. The Nashville is trying to do too many things at once to do any thing really well. It's really not a Tele and it surely ain't no strat. Get the Tele you have the Strat game over. At least on the Fender side. LOL. Peace. J.J.B.

Funny you should say that -- one of the things that kept bugging me about the Nashville Tele was that, with a Strat already, why would I really need the Strat pickup that is one of the major features of the Nashville Tele... I have a bad habit of being influenced by the price... the Nashville Tele is SUCH a good deal... Now, I've been thinking I should maybe back off and, if I only plan to buy one Tele, it might be better to get a more traditional one. The Am Std fits that description .... One thing I want to check is whether the rebate applies to the Am Std I looked at. Its new but it isn't the latest version of the Am Std. (New Old Stock I think they call it.)
