i have a MIM 50's reissue tele. i truly love the guitar, but after owning it for the last 6 years, i would like to replace the bridge. will the american standard bridge 'fit', without modification to my guitar??

No. The modern bridges are longer and you would need to drill new holes to screw it down. (have you considered compensated saddles?)

I prefer the old style bridges as you can hook your little finger round the bottom.

No, American Standard/Series/Deluxe are different hole patterns. However, Mexican Standard Tele modern bridges are a "drop in" replacement. Either grab one on ebay, or alternatively Gotoh sell a replacement bridge that is well regarded (GTC202).

A seller in eBay has brand new Fender American Vintage bridges + original pickup for 50,00US$ (both 62 and 52 reissues)... but of course, they are vintage-style and seems you are after a modern bridge? Or maybe those vintage ones but with 6 barrel saddles will do? If that's the case, I'd take a look in eBay too and you won't need to re-drilling.
