USA Standard or Mex STD??? The new USA std is a real winner, love the feel of the neck, it feels right all the way down to the 22nd fret!! Plus you get the Medium Jumbo frets too! I have owned a Maple Neck Std in the past, the rosewood is more warm and the maple is brighter with more acurate diction on the notes, I like both but have the rosewood! The Mexican Std is a great guitar too, very close to the USA but different frets, Vintage style, the pick-ups are still clear but not as much punch in the mids, the bridge saddles are different. It is a different beast. it all depends on what sort iof usage you have planned for it. Even the New Highway Ones are awesome! They are like a cross over between the Mex and the USA, I dig the new HWY-1's. I was impressed with it's playability, I bought a HW-1 (strat though!) have to get more money for the Tele HW-1!! I would rate it like this, The Hwy-1 range and USA Std range in my opinion are the work horses by far, because I own them i know from using them 4 nights per week!

1- USA STD
2- USA HWY-1
3- Mex STD

Hopefully this helps ya out!

They need to find a way to increase the inductance of the magnet in the ceramic . Some sort of inductive alloy distributed in the crossectional dimensions of the magnet structure!

got my new tele and am blown away.

Now I have both the tele and the strat standard and they are the best guitars I have ever owned!

Has extream power and sustain and looks perfect for a standard instrument. Setup flawless .

I see they put 9s on instead of 10s that my strat came with I am a 10s person but this is the best sounding guitar I have hear 9s on!~

I have an 06 American Stndard, and it is a super nice guitar, the sound and workmanship is incredible. I also have a mim telecaster, the workmanship is good, not great, the pickups are muddy (NOT PUNCHY OR BRIGHT), definetly not the same sound as my American, I was going to change MIM P/U'S out, but decided to leave the stock p/u's in, because the sound IS very different from my American. I bought the MIM Tele as my first guitar, to make sureI was going to continue to play, now I cannot get enough. In fact , my FENDER gear has increased, besides the two tele's , I also have a 65 Twin Reverb (RI) and a Blues Junior.
Good luck with your search!!

I agree there is more of a filtered sound in ceramics but I would not go as far as to say they are muddy at all. especialy on a solid state amp like a roland 120 jc

Yes, 'muddy' might not be the best description, however , with all settings set the same on my 65 TRRI and Blues Junior, playing both the american and mim tele, the sound is very different. 8)

I might get some gfs alnico 5s but it seems a shame to wasts the pickups in my guitars for the sparkel of alnicos
