Hopefully the Tele experts on here can help me and give me their recommendations. I currently own an American Deluxe Strat with custom pickups and love it.
I am thinking about buying a Tele but am confused about two models. What are the main differences between the Vintage 52 Reissue and the Hot Rod 52. I have also read about upgraded wiring that comes with one or both of them. What does this do?

The Vintage '52 reissue approximates the Telecasters as they were built in 1952.

The Hot Rod '52 (judging from the specs) is a guitar that resembles the Vintage '52 appearance-wise but has some notable differences. Mini-humbucker in the neck position, flatter radius neck, and larger frets. In short they are trying to target younger players who like the looks of the the '52 but can't accept the vintage specs.

The Vintage '52 comes with a kit that allows you to change the pickup wiring scheme to a more modern circuit that many people like. I wouldn't call it an upgrade, just a different way of wiring the pickups to get some different sounds. I don't know if the Hot Rod '52 comes with this or not.

Nope, its doesn't. The guitar comes with the 3 way-switch set for Mini-Humbucker, both pickups and bridge Single Coil. No kit to change it to vintage wiring.

+1 The HR's neck 'bucker gives you a fatter sound too.

Another big difference is the neck radius, the 52 hotrod has a 9.5 neck radius and the vintage 52 has the 7.25 neck radius.

I love my vintage 52 as stock.

good luck.
