If money is tight I will turn you on to one of the best sounding amps for a classic rock tone you can find. It is the Crate vintage 50. It is loud and has a great sound -just check out the reviews on harmony central, sound rating is close to 95%. You have to get the white one though or today they look beige not the balack one as it is not a true all tube amp. You can pick one up on ebay for $250-$300 used. Now these are a bit of an underground secret as Paul Reed Smith even knows about them . The draw back is they weigh a ton and the tubes are in a hard to reach spot but sound and price wise you cant beat this amp. I have one that I keep in the basement and use my 85 62 reissue tele with Dimarzio fast tracks and pull all the AC/DC to ZEP I want. And boy are they loud. Look into one.

I use an old 1993 Fender M80 Bass combo with the 15" speaker...sounds so sweet...kind of like the old Fender Blues man 100 heads through a 15" cabinet..Dean Hall..(Tom T Hall's son) a fantastic blues man got me into experimenting and well...this is what I love to do for that sound. Hope it helps

Don't know if you can get Kustom amps over in NZ but I recently tried a '72 coup which I thought sounded great (2x12 should give you plenty of bottom end) and looked way cool. Even at low volume it sounded very good.

http://www.kustom.com/product_detail.as ... D=96&Tab=0

Cheers.

Many seem to like the Cyber-series by Fender. I know one guy from NZ that seems to get Fender gear without too much problem.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

If you can find a gently-used Cyber-Twin, you may never need another amp for the rest of your playing-life.

I use a Mesa Boogie F-50 and its great for everything rock. I had a Fender "The Twin" red knob before my F-50, it was good to but it was a little to much amp for the clubs I was playing. So my My U.S.A. Telecaster Plus with Lace Sensors sound great through my F-50. I play a lot of Stones, Floyd to Chilli Peppers etc.
