Yes, the output is normal.

Good! Then the pickup itself is alright.

As a previous poster suggested, your pickup is probably microphonic. With premium Tele pickups, the culprit is most often the plate underneath the pickup itself coming loose or having air gaps, followed by the springs which are mounting the pickup to the bottom of the bridge plate.

What to do: Read all of this first before proceeding!

First, get a regular candle; a birthday one, a blackout one, anything will do. Next, light the candle and allow the melting wax to drip, seep and permeate in between the bottom of the pickup and the entirety of the plate. This will not harm the pickup. What you are trying to accomplish is to get rid of any air and/or looseness between the pickup and the plate which could be very well be the source of your problem. Make sure you've gotten that wax all the way through, between and around the plate and pickup, taking care not to burn yourself, the guitar or anything else from the dripping wax. If you plan on doing this directly over or near the guitar, ensure that you've protected the guitar from any errant wax drippings prior to starting and again, I stress that wax is flammable so keep this in mind with not only whatever you choose to protect the guitar with but yourself and your overall surroundings as well.

Once the wax has fully seeped through between the pickup and it's plate, extinguish the candle, allow the wax between the plate and the pickup to cool and solidify; you're done.

Now, if you've mounted the pickup to the bottom of the bridge plate with springs through the screws, remove the springs and replace them with that tan surgical tubing Fender uses for their pickups. This surgical tubing serves the same purpose as the wax does by eliminating loose spring rattle which is akin to the loose pickup plate symptoms.

Hopefully, your problem is now solved. If not, then the whole pickup has to be dipped in wax as the coils themselves are loose and must be solidified as well. If this be the case, this procedure is best left to a competent tech as it is much more involved than using a candle and truly has its dangers.

Time for me to go but let me know how you make out. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I think I'll talk to someone at my local music shop and see if they'll do this for me. I really appreciate your reply :D

Glad to help!

Not all shops are familiar with nor offer what is called, pickup potting. If your's doesn't know or do it, get back to me and I'll point you in the right direction.

Ok, so I talked to someone at the music store and they said that the best thing to do would be to call Fender and talk to them about it. This a good idea?

Apparently, like I said above, they are one of those stores who don't know about potting. So, in this case, you might be better off calling Fender but at the very least, THEY should call Fender and talk to them about it as the dealer always carries more clout than the consumer when talking with the manufacturer.

On a side note, I don't know if your state has the, "Lemon Law" as does mine, but if your state does, the store would have to take the pickup back if it is defective and never worked properly

I guess the bottom line is this: If you can't get any satisfaction through the store and then, Fender (which I'd find hard to believe), get back to me and I'll recommend you to a competent, experienced tech who has all the necessary equipment to pots pickups.
