Hi all, I am trying to find out some information on an old Made In Japan Esquire/telecaster I picked up recently.....It has no serial number on the rear of the neck, but seems to have 5 numbers stamped on the bridge plate....they are 13824and are just under the FENDER PAT PENDING.

Yep, thats how they are supposed to be, no serial on the neck or neckplate, just on the bridge. Sorry I can't tell you exactly what model is it. By the color of the body and pickguard, looks more like a later reissue, like 55-56, but the 8 screws pickguard wouldnt make sense, cos those had only 5 screws, but maybe that's just how they made them back them in Japan.

Try removing the neck to see if there's anything stamped in the cavity. Cheers!

There should be a letter in front of the numbers .You sure the one 1 is not an I. Like on my 85 62 reissue on the bridge plate it is stamped A585-- with the A meaning it was made in 85 B would be 86 and so on.
