I want a new Tele. Bad! I have a MIA Standard that's about a year old. It has been in the case about 98% of the time since I've bought it. I just can't make my mind up about what I want. Help me out.

Highway One Texas Tele?

Highway One?

Have any of you played both? What are your thoughts?

As much of a Tele guy I am, I must ask, if you already have a Tele that spends 98% of its time in the case, before you consider another Tele, you may need to ask yourself,"Are you sure you really are a Tele guy?" Why does that guitar spend so much time in its case? If I were you, I would look into why you don't play the Tele you have before looking into getting another Tele....but thats just me...

It sounds like you have a case of GAS more than wanting a new tele. Now if you said you could not keep your tele in the case and what do other models offer I would then say go get a new one.

i have a 70's tele and i love it what you might try is a different amp remember when a tele is made there is a certian kind of sound that is expected from that guitar you know that fender tele twang . so if the one you have does not have the sound you are looking for try a strat hss. as well as a different amp good luck.

Actually that really is an interesting idea. Another tele would sound somewhat similar to the one you currently own. A new amp always gets you picking up old guitars to see what cool new tones you can get :D

Maybe sell your current tele if it's not rubbing you the right way. It's dumb to have two of them.

If you already have an American Standard, then why would go backwards with a Highway 1? Whip out your beautiful Tele and go play it :D

I bought the HWY 1 TX Tele. I like it a lot. I like my standard but I prefer the flatter radius and the 6105 frets. Also, The bridge pup on the standard has always kind of bothered me. I know the MIA Standard is better guitar but I wanted the TX Tele. So now I'm thinking of selling my Standard.

Alright so it must live in the case for some reason like, you aren't super comfortable playing it (it doesn't hug you back), or your not completely happy with the tone. Before you go spend a bunch of money on a new tele, b/c then your going to have twice the investment and just end up playing the new one and the MIA will just live in its case some more, why don't you look at what you are hoping to get out of a highway one/texas tele.
It sounds like you need to build an attachment with this MIA tele, so go buy some new pickups and look at installing them. Then you'll spend half of what you would spend on a new guitar, and you'll probably get a nicer tone than either of them with some high end pickups. I recommend Lollards, I use their Vintage T-Series and just love them!! But theres alot of pickups out there.
Save some money man! Good Luck!!
