Hey FENDER thanks for the new guitar with the frets popping out! And thanks for the email telling me you can't "work with me" because I didn't go to an "authorized service center" to have somebody make it playable. I quess it's ok that I pay somebody else $277 to fix your horrible quality control on a new FENDER guitar! I will never buy anything you people make again and tell everyone else what I went through buying a fine FENDER guitar!

Well, an interesting flame, but you're sounding a little incoherent here.

Here is my translation. Please tell me where I'm wrong.

You bought a new guitar.

It had a problem(s).

You went to a non-Fender facility to have it repaired.

You write to Fender demanding compensation.

Fender says, 'sorry about your decision.'

Does that about sum it up?

While I'm not a true Fender kool-ade drinker, it doesn't sound to me like you have a valid case.

Did you let the non-fender place work on it? If not what's the problem?

Don't listen to these guys about "not playing before you buy".

Fender should step up. Unfortunaltly you almost have to go in knowing Fender has a bad rep for warranty issues. I've never heard one good thing about it. Just saying I've only heard bad things about warranty issues.

By not going to an Authorized Fender Service Center to have it repaired you have voided your warranty. Once you have done that Fender has no responsibility to make any repairs.
It's exactly the same with any other Guitar maker.

Assuming that the Frets were fine when you bought your guitar, fret sprouts are caused by the atmosphere.

That's like making BMW pay to re-wax your car because you park it outside.

By the way, $277 to file fret sprouts????? That's like a $30-$75 job. You don't even have to take off the strings.

Not true. I have had excellent response from Fender on warranty issues. The only downside I have experienced is that the "Authorized Service Centers" can be slow. But both times I had a problem, Fender made it right with no issues whatsoever.

If you can't play it before you buy it, then make sure you buy it from a place that has a 30-60 day, no questions asked, return policy. Caveat Emptor, buyer beware.

ALSO, Fender does care, you are just a moron for posting this again on the Tele forum after posting this in the Main forum, so I mentioned there, it clearly states on page 1, paragraph 2 of the Fender warranty: Fender has established a network of independent Authorized Fender Service Centers for warranty service. The Fender Dealer from whom you purchased your instrument may also be authorized for warranty service and should be the first point of contact when service of any kind is required for your Fender instrument. To receive warranty service, return the complete instrument to an Authorized Fender Service Center, with your sales receipt as proof of purchase, during the applicable warranty period. Defective components that qualify for coverage under this warranty will be repaired or replaced (at Fender's discretion) without charge. Remedies beyond normal service repair of any Fender instrument require both an evaluation and confirmation of the defect and a direct recommendation to Fender from an Authorized Fender Service Center for alternative considerations.

Here's the link to that so you don't think I am making this up:
http://fender.com/support/pdfs/FENDERLIMITED64CE6.pdf

So Fender would have covered it most likely if you went through the proper way of handling this sort of thing. Sorry about your problems with the guitar, but next time contact where you bought it or look around on the website for warranty info if its still new.

So to me, Fender and you are both to blame. Yes, maybe Fender quality control made a mistake, but you made a mistake as well for not handling this properly, so you are both at fault.

I've dealt with Fender and have had great customer service. I think what's wrong is entirely on your end.

I guess I may be in the minority, but if I would ever have a problem with a Fender guitar, I would either bring it back to where I have bought it or contact the Fender Service/Warranty before making any repair decisions. Some of the minor things that have happened, neck adjustment, fret burrs, I have done the work myself. To be quite honest, I have had few reasons to call the service department. I wonder if it was one of the Road Worn Teles. There seems to be a lot of fret problems.

Its like pretty much anything anywhere, from your Xbox, computer, car, washing machine, etc.

This is in place because if people don't know what they are doing, they can make a problem worse and Fender isn't going to pay to have a guy they've signed off on to repair someone else's mistake.

So with the guitar under warranty why didn't you take it to a Fender authorized facility to fix the problem.

Sounds like you created your own problem. Don't blame Fender for your own foolishness.

This thread is asinine and I didn't realize it was posted twice or I would have already locked it. Doing so now.
