sorry staycat113

these things should not happen ever never mind twice in my case, full stop !

cars (can you say toyota) guitars it doesn't matter,

what your saying is that it's perfectly acceptable and we as consumers should tolerate shoddy workmanship in the products we buy, well to you i say bollocks unless of course your a fender mole trying to minimize their inferior products,

remember all, the consumer has the money and they can take their business where ever they chose and this consumer has and will not give anymore to fender !

standish,
I am not flaming you, but for someone so new to the forum you might want to be a little kinder to one of the guys like straycat! He is a good bloke and is no mole. You had a problem with your gear and are upset, got it, but no need to flame a brother here who is just trying to help you out. I am on the opposite side of the coin, I have a couple MIM standards and have had nothing but fantastic experiences with them. I also have MIAs. So far I have had great gear from Fender so I am positive with my experiences. This forum is a great place to get information and help. Let's all get along.

No offence to airbornestrat or staycat113 but standish has a point and always has had a point. There is no such thing as a valid argument in favour of poor quality. Period.

Once a situation becomes escalated and public like this one has, it is the implied responsibility of the manufacturer to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the issue is resolved to a level of satisfaction that negates the possibility of any future dispute. It's not a legal resposibility, I understand that. It's just a good sound business responsibility. Anything less leaves the company in a poor light. If it were me I would have lost all patience LONG ago and I would likely have been punted from this forum like jet-whats-his-name. I don't tollerate incompetance and I won't be F'd over and just quietly take it with my tail between my legs. FMIC can feel relieved it's not me in this fight.

Stick to your guns, standish. Wrestle with them until they make it right. They are the ones who decided to elevate the MIMs to the position of "Standard". That means the MIMs will be judged as Fender's "standard of quality". Is there another way to look at it? No, there is not.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

BMW,
No offense taken. The only thing I was trying to get across to standish was not to flame straycat by name calling. I agree that when you pay for a product you should expect excellence. I just don't want to see this start into name calling and flaming like strings sometimes do. I think in many instances the problem is not so much Fender as the dealers. Now if you want to get me going...we can get on that thread...LOL
