Take it back, or quit obsessing and play your guitar.

The edges of the fret look so rough and undressed, it looks to me as though this fret is not original to the guitar!

I believe they are original to the guitar. My MIM Baja Tele has similar markings. I took a trip to GC recently and took a close look at 5 different MIM teles, all of them had similar markings of varying degrees.

thank you scar roll 1, this is the kind of information i've been looking and waiting for, as i'm out of north america so i can't check the stores for myself,

i urge anyone else with these fret markings on their MIM to contact fender and start the complaint process,

i'd like to know as well if this is just a new issue or been around awhile so anyone, let me know as well if your frets look like the pics i've posted here,

I agree that you send it back and let who ever you bought it from that you want to have it fixed or replace the guitar with one that doesn't have the fret markings. It looks like the fretting machine has run amok, leaving a trail of fret devastation!

i have confirmation that the pictured fret wire marks are created by the machine that puts the "tangs" on the fret wires these "tangs" are necessary to hold the frets in the wood, apparently this happens when the wire is not feed thru the machine correctly or some other machine gearing malfunction or when putting the arc bend in the fret wire to follow the natural contour of the neck,

Dude send it back and get on with your life. I'd hate to see what happens when life REALLY throws you a curve.

i'm just amazed how many of you people in here are fender employees,

watching and filtering all the posts, no surprise there !

all i'm doing is putting other unsuspecting fender customers on notice

so they don't have to go thru hassle and perhaps fender can take note

and remedy something that needs fixing,

so sorry the truth bothers you all

Truth doesn't bother me one bit. You bought an MIM guitar and didn't check it out thoroughly before you walked out the door. Shame on you. There's a reason they cost less . . . one of the reasons is that QC just isn't the same.

Yes they are good guitars, and an excellent value, but you get this kind of thing sometimes. Quit whining and handle your business.
