yup it's official, the fret wires have machine marks on both sides of the fret wire from the board level and in some cases to the top of the crown, which explains why i've been popping strings like popcorn, i've tried to sand but to no avail, and why should i, this is a new factory made guitar, not some junk from asia, although it might as well be, i will never never buy a MIM again, you truly get what you truly get what you pay for!

these grooves or burrs or what ever you like to call them are on every fret wire, truly ashame the factory let it out and the dealer passsed it as well, or perhaps they knew and were suppose to sell them as seconds?

Fender doesn't sell "seconds."

If it's a new guitar, then take it back where you bought it. It's under warranty, ya know.

What SlappChop said, and I understand you are probably a bit ticked off right now, but there is no need to post the exact same thread in several forums, it could be seen as spamming, and spammers get banned.

This does not happen if you play it before you buy it.

Yup, play before you buy........this can happen to any MIA guitar, rare, but does. MIM's are great guitars.

Youi probably bought the guitar online. It's under warranty. Take it to a Authorized Fender Repair Shop or call the place you bought it and tell them the problem. If it is one of the big Internet Box Stores, they should replace it once you send it back. I am curious, is it one of the Road Worn Teles? Seems the frets also come all reliced like an old axe might have. Every so often I have to shave the fret burrs on a guitar. Guess it's all part of a guitar's cycle of life!

no online purchase vcartier, this was purchased in canada at a proper dealer,
the model is the basic standard tele,

as i've mentioned i live out of north america my wife purchased this guitar
while traveling and brought it to me, i had many a long chat with the dealer
along the lines that i've never purchase a guitar sight unseen, and i requested that it be checked out by the in house luthier which i was told was done, they knew i had no one to turn to, to send to, to have look at where i live, and the issue of frets and neck where of utmost importants to me,

sending back to fender is a major cost from where i live, like $300.00usd, using fedex one way, i knew this before hand because i was shopping online and checked out shipping already, thats why i stressed the purchase be checked out, the dealer also told me that it was no problem taking the guitar on the plane with a gig bag, well when wife gets to airport she's told by canada airlines that she could not take guitar on plane it had to be check for $225.00usd, we paid as we had no choice either leave guitar at airport or pay them,

so because of all the above reasons, its just not take the guitar for warranty as most of you recommend, i will not pay shipping both ways as the fender warranty demands as this makes no sense at all as i could purchase 2 brand new guitars all over again! and this is my dilemma,
and of course as some of you wrote and have checked in GC that many of the MIMs on the racks have these markings on them, so i'm fearful that the frets will just be serviced and i'll be back where i am in a few weeks time.......................sigh!

$225 for shipping seems out of line. I can ship most any guitar to Canada and lower 48 for about $35. Why not just man up and admit to your misfortune and take the guitar to a local luthier and have it fixed and pay for it and stop crying and start playing!?!?

All of this is going to ruin the guitars' mojo... if its' not seriously damaged already!

Although I would not have phrased it quite so bluntly, I tend to agree with Strataholic. I can appreciate your frustration with the current flaws your tele has, but I must respectfully point out to you that it will very likely cost you a WHOLE LOT LESS money and frustration to simply have the frets recrowned and polished.

Time to fix that guitar and get to the reason you got it in the first place....playing!!!!!!!

Being the "High quality" instrument fender is, you should not have to deal with this bs. It "is" fenders fault. You and I didnt f up the frets, neither did your old lady, fender did. The fact that you have had to pay so much to cart a lemon around sucks. But fender should man up, and pay shipping to fix there product.
Maybe with your new quality care experience, fender might hire you. Seems like they must be short handed if this kind of stuff slips out there doors as often as is brought up in this forum.

at least thewood1987 gets whats going on and not turning a blind eye to big picture,

as for the rest here's my thoughts,

i'm just amazed how many of you people in here are fender employees,

watching and filtering all the posts, no surprise there !

all i'm doing is putting other unsuspecting fender customers on notice

so they don't have to go thru hassle and perhaps fender can take note

and remedy something that needs fixing,

so sorry the truth bothers you all

HELLLOOOOO . . . . . M-I-M

You have to check them out thoroughly before you buy and make sure that QC didn't slip up. It happens sometimes. It's one of the trade offs for the lower price point.

Yeah they rock, but you have to play and inspect BEFORE you buy.

Quit whining
