The Rosewood Teles are a limited edition custom shop model American made and do go for almost $4,000. It was a limited edition run for the american version, that is a solid rosewood body and neck. You can still find them on many guitar websites. There are also three other versions for sale. MIM is a basswood with rosewood veneer and a rosewood fret board, a similiar japanese model and a solid japanese rosewood edition with the solid rosewood neck and fretboard. The reason they are so popular is because they were originally made for George Harrison to use on the Let it Be Album. They were made for Harrison and flown to England first class in their own seat.

hey everyone...

on the topic of rosewood teles...i was lucky enough to find an 80's MIJ rosewood tele at a pawn shop for around 2k

i called the sam ash in manhattan and they had a masterbuilt usa one for about 4.5k

most website that list MIJ's list them around 2400-3500...and most MIA's are listed at 4300-5k

that being said...they made some veneer CIJ in the 90s i think that would be cheaper than 2k to have...

i talked to this guy that has 6 of them!
two originals...one mij...one masterbuilt...two veneer...

the veneer ones look nice...but arent heavy like the chambered rosewoods (mine is chambered and still weighs in above 9lbs!)

the basswood is just ok...in my opinion...if your doing it simply for the look thats your priority but soundwise you might be better off with a plain ol MIA standard...or even a 52 reissue used on like ebay or craigslist...those go for around 1-1300...

good luck!

it took me at least 20 months to find mine...but i also dont make it a habit of buying guitars sight unseen...

i wish you lots of luck!
they are awesome...and this is easily my favorite guitar...

i posted pics before but ill sneak one more in...
