I just got my first Tele (2009 American Std) and I cannot stop playing it. (My main guitar was an late 80's American Strat, but the Tele has now moved to number 1).

But the question is, I'm thinking about upgrading my amp and I'd like some opinions. My primary amp is a Roland Cube, which I like. Has some decent amp modeling and some basic built in effects (so you don't need to worry about too many pedals).

I'm leaning towards a Fender Super Champ XD (which I was playing when I demoed the Teles at a local GC). I want a tube amp but don't want to speand a fortune. I like the additional amp modeling and basic effects that are built in to the Champ XD. I play blues and country-ish stuff, so I love the Fender sound and Tele twang. Any opinions, comments, thoughts, experiences would be appreciated.

I haven't very much experience with most Fender amps, so I can't really account for them. The one amp I do have is a tweed Blues Jr, which I love to pieces. You can't go wrong for the price.

My deluxe tele has never been happier :D

I have a SCXD & a couple Teles. She is my go to amp.

You cant go wrong with that amp. The other voises are pretty sweet as well. The effects arent the best on the market, but theyre a good start.

Another amp you might want try is the Champion 600. Its very basic with no frills, but you can change the power tubes for more clean headroom. Its also a little cheaper.

Luts us know how you make out.

You can't go wrong with a Deluxe reverb . Great amp for country and blues.

I would get a Blues-Deluxe. It is well worth the cost. It is durable and sounds incredible. Or if you are looking for an amp with a more distorted sound get the hot rod deluxe. It has three channels: clean, distorted, and extra distorted.

I've heard that some of the new SCXDs rattle. Once (if necessary) you sus the rattle in the SCXD, it's a really nice little piece!

I think dollar for dollar for what you're looking to do, I think the Blues Devill Jr, with a couple of Boss foot pedals or one of the multi effects pedals to get the effect you need.

i own a fender tele deluxe and a peavey rage amp and it sounds great, anywhere from warm acustic tones to grunge or classic rock. but any peavey amp is great.

What are you going to do with the amp? If you're just playing in the basement then your cube is fine. If you're going to gig you probably want an amp that is meant for public performance.

If your amplifier has to reach the audience on its own power you may need something as big as a Twin Reverb, which pushes 80 watts. Fender offers a range of power options. Also take a look at the Hot Rod line of modern tube amps.

But if you're going to mic your amp to a band or house system you can use one of Fender's small tube amps, like a Blues Jr. That's what I do. The band's system includes a pair of big Mackie three-way powered speakers and couple of subwoofers. So a Blues Jr. works just fine.

I've mentioned only Fender amps. I do think that Fender guitars sound very nice through Fender amps. If you are going to be using a distorted sound you might then gravitate toward Marshalls and other amps that trade on that sound. Of course you can get those sounds out of a pedal too.
