That's right after searching for a Joe Strummer telecaster working magic to get one. It took me selling some other guitars. I get it to my house and only had it for one week. A EFF-FING cat peed in the case while I had my guitar out playing it. I put it back in the case and head to work (without knowing the cat just peed in there). I pull out my guitar and play it and all I can smell is cat urine. I look and look around the house nothing... I go to put the guitar away and there it is a big wet spot in the case. I turn the guitar around and
I see cat urine soaked through the wood on my week old Telecaster!!!

Since there is no finish on this guitar or so it seems... any idea's on how to get the smell out of the guitar? Would guitar polish be a bad idea since there is no glossy finish on the Strummer tele?
Also I need to get it out of the case other wise every time I put my GEE-TAR back in it will just get that smell again...

Thanks...
Word to the wise don't leave your case open while playing if you have cats...

Head to Petsmart or Petco or any pet store in the area. They have products for eliminating odors from cat urine. Good luck.

Put baking soda and pipe tobacco (your favorite scent) in the case (after spping up the extra...tinkle?), put in your guitar, and hopefully most of the smell will be gone. Febreeze will work for the case, but as for the axe, I don't know.

As for the cat, I think "feline fajitas" are the next order of the day!

Catastophic Telecaster Disaster!

Don't you think someone peed in Joe Strummer's case along the way? You've just gotten your relic more realistic!!

Dude, that totally suck$. I would say to try and douse the area with some lemon pledge, let it dry and then do it again. . If there is no finish on it hopefully it will soak in. Luckily it's a road worn guitar. It's truly one of a kind now.

I had the same problem with a strat I bought off CL The case insides smelled of cat urine. I never noticed until I got it home and really tried everyhting I could think of but nothing worked totally until I used Oxy Clean. I mixed up a batch and used a sponge and scrubbed the inside all over. It worked.

That's rough, man!... I have four cats and all my guitars are in their cases and in a room they are not allowed to enter. Cats love to sit in boxes... which a case is to a cat. They also love the soft plush inside. Sometimes, if they are mad at you for some kitty reason, they'll pee on something you love.

My brother left one of his dresser drawers open and one of his cats peed on his clothes. Cats are evil sometimes...

Cats mark their territory by urinating on it. I guess your feline buddy has just laid claim on your new tele.

I bet Mick Jones did it on a weekly basis, not to mention Topper.
