I love the EMG's in my jim root tele. The sound that comes out is hard and heavy.. plus not having tone and only a 3switch/ vol knob is ballsy lol

im actually replacing my old squire pick ups with emg single coils

Sure, why not? More choices, more happy players, more happy Fender executives. Besides, it would be foolish for Fender to miss the boat on this genre of players.

I must admit, i was shocked when fender came out with a tele with emgs and no tone knobs! Hell i was shocked jim root used a tele to record all hope is gone.

But ill tell you what, ever since i got the tele and tuned to a & b it sounds meaty...Its one of my favorite guitars i have

Same here! this is not your dad's tele for sure!
It's pretty mean sounding but cleans up excellently!
The one thing that I dont like is that it's HEAVY, as in weight!
But it's to be expected from a mahagony body guitar.

I Like the fact that Fender was big enough to let him have the EMGs and not like we will make something that sounds like them.EMGs are great pickups so why should they not go into a great guitar.I mean Yngwie has Dimarzios in his model. I have Dimarzios in my 62 reissue and it is a killer ax I can get that Zep or AC/DC sound. The tele is such a comfortable guitar and it is great for rock and what there doing with this model and the John 5 is opening up the market for harder styles of music using the tele. I love the black and chrome look of the John 5 its that canoe paddle headstock that stops me from grabbing one.

^^^This is what impressed me most about this guitar!
The fact that you can get such a wide range of sounds with this guitar.
I thought the EMG's would kill the classic Fender Tele twang.
But it's easily achieved with the JT Tele!

I love mine. I'd call it the poor mans Les Paul. I'm sure I have a good deal more "room" to stretch out on the JR than I'd ever have on any LP

I have a slew of Strats and two Teles and lately, I can't put the Teles down for a Strat!

I don't use mine for shredding... just blues and experimental stuff. It even sounds great clean... very versatile instrument!

I own a jim root tele and i think the sound is just great. Maybe it is not the typicly Fender guitar with the EMGs but what i like in this guitar and what maybe others also like is that it looks not like an ugly metal guitar. I think it was just great that fender made a natural looking guitar which has heavier sounding pickups.

I think the Flat Head Series was also a great idea because the guitars were just great for (heavier) rock which. Also the fact that not everyone likes les pauls is a vote for the HH Telecaster oder HH Fender in general.

heavy? have you tried putting on a j5 tele or a les paul? in comparison the jim root tele is a light as hell. infact my strat is similar in weight. what u on about? On a different subject the jr tele is awsome clean or distorted in standard or drop tuning.

Whats weird is that everyone who posted loves the fact that there are differant pickups in this tele yet the poll is three quarters against it.Which means that people who never played one or played a tele with stacked humbuckers just decided to vote. Lets face it the tele is a classic that is 60 years old and there is so much more to it than people could imagine and as times and musical styles have changed why should Fender stay in the past.

In fact, I like my JR Tele so much, it seems that it is my goto guitar these days! I'd sell my first born for a Strat version of the JR tele.

Dude they are called Charvel :D

Fender is rumored to be putting out a JR Strat in the not too distant future.

*Strat style body
*Charvel shaped neck
*EMG's
*Vol no Tone

:D Hmmm is it a Fender? Is it a Jackson? Is it a Charvel? :D

Total 80's rehash but I'm sure it will be a good guitar
