Go to your local guitar shop and play a Standard Telecaster and a Standard Strat through whatever amp you happen to have. They're both great guitars. See which one you like.

Well you should try them all, LOL. I'll start by asking what, if anything, you don't like about your current guitar? It depends on whether you're looking for something totally different or just a little different.

If you like the feel of your squire you could mod it out and possibly save some money. I'd i'd go with a texas special set up and go from there with whatever i need to change. You could change the tuners and the pups and have a fine guitar and probably save a couple hundred bucks to save up for an even better guitar than what you would get for 500/600 bucks. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Look online first to see what guitars are in your price range, then go out to a store and try them.

Any guitar that you like and can afford will be suitable for what you want to play ...

I would save and then spend a few more dollars and get a Roadworn Strat or Tele. Nitro finish on the body which sounds better. Go to GC and you can probably talk them down to around $850.00. Later you could upgrade the pickups etc.

Get a classic vibe squier tele, save a bunch of money and have an absolutely awesome guitar.

I say this to everyone, weather they ask or not, but the classic vibe is an awesome guitar if it cost 800 euros, so the fact that it cost 270 euros makes it a freakin steal.

I wanted a tele to give some slide ago.
I played standards, mexicans, other brand teles, squier afinity and other models, but then i found the classic vibe.

It just feels awesome. I play it way more than my Am Dlx strat which is almost 5 times the price.

Try playing one, see what you think.

The web site I've purchased a few guitars from lists the guitar with the Fender line, and they list the rest of the Squiers alone. ...I kinda figured there was something unique about this guitar! Read the ad (a review from a tele user after):

"The Squier Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster is an electric guitar with a look to die for and plenty of '50s 'blackguard' Tele vibe! The Vintage Blonde over pine body totally resonates and you'll be hard-pressed to tell whether or not you are holding a premium ash body guitar! Of course pine is not a foreign wood to guitar making or to Fender history for that matter. Early single and dual pickup Esquire guitars were made with pine bodies.

Featuring a 21-fret vintage tint gloss maple neck with the modern playability of a 9.5" radius and medium jumbo frets and outfitted with a custom set of AlNiCo III single-coil pickups, this Squier Tele has tone that can really hang with the big boys. You get clear note separation even in distorted modes and dynamic response with a strong midrange and high end bite for leads!

Classic Vibe!
Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and vibe. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct—but rather imparting the vibe of a classic Fender design. Each with distinctive feature set combinations—all adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value—Classic Vibe!

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster Electric Guitar Features:

* Body: Pine
* Finish: Polyester
* Neck: 1-Piece Maple, Modern "C" Shape
* Fingerboard: Maple, 9.5" (241 mm)
* Frets: 21, Medium Jumbo
* Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm)
* Nut Width: 1.65" (42 mm)
* Hardware: Chrome
* Tuning Keys: Vintage style tuning machines
* Bridge: Vintage style Tele bridge plate w/brass barrel saddles
* Pickguard: 1-ply black
* Neck pickup: Custom Telecaster pickup (AlNiCo III)
* Bridge pickup: Custom Telecaster pickup (AlNiCo III)
* Pickup switching: 3-Position Blade: Position 1. Bridge Pickup, Position 2. Bridge and Neck Pickups, Position 3. Neck Pickup
* Controls: Volume, Tone
* Strings: (.009 - .042) Nickel Plated Steel"

Here's a review on the gutiar:

"I can't believe a guitar can be this good at this price point. I am a country and country-rock player and a tele freak to boot. I have some high end telecasters and bought this one because of the great reviews it was getting, and for a tele that would be a workhorse that I didn't have to worry about if it gets dinged. The fit, finish and sound is superb... REALLY SUPERB... Bravo Squier..."

...I still don't like the 3-saddle bridge and the ash tray holder, I like the 6-saddle bridge betterer!

Thanks. Interesting guitar. Is the guitar heavy?

I think that first you have to difine the sound you want to get. All Fender guitar are great and they will like you, but what you want to hear from you? Naturaly a Strat has more posibilities ... it will no give you the sound of a Telecaster. Go and hear them!!!
