I am considering buying a telecaster. I love the sound, the look, and the controls of one especially throught the amp I recently bought.

Here's the problem. Both from personal experience and reviews I have learned that the input jack of a standard telecaster gets messed up. What I want to know is has anyone had problems with their input jacks on their telecasters. If so, was it expensive to fix?

I just restored a 1966 Tele and pretty much had to build it from the ground up as far as hardware is concerned. A new jack cost me less than $5 and had just two connections needed to made. You shouldn't have any trouble with it at all, so all I'm saying is that if you do, it's not hard to fix. Well worth it for sure! :D

An Electrosocket Jack Mount and a genunine Switchcraft jack will solve your problem forever.

Buy this: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_p ... Mount.html

and one of these (mono): http://www.stewmac.com/shopby/product/4652

2002 Hwy1, 2008 AmStd, 2002 72 Reissue -- no jack problems. The 69 Reissue (also a 2002 model), the jack only needed tightening. Both RI were purchased from EBay so I don't know their total history.

Still, as others have posted, jacks are cheap and easily replaced.

+1 on that. The Electrosocket is the best thing to replace a Tele jack. I leave the Tele jack stock, but if they act up, I just get an Electrosocket, and call it a day...

The Electrosocket jacks look good. I don't see why they aren't stock on telecasters. Do you need to also buy a replacement jack when you buy an electrosocket mount or can you just use the stock jack that comes with the guitar?

I am not sure, but a Switchcraft jack is only a few bucks, so I would just get one of those when you get the Electrosocket to be safe...if it ends up you don't need it, it never hurts to have a few spare parts around in case you ever do...

I'm not sure what you mean by "gets messed up" or even what you mean by "standard telecaster" (MIA? MIM?)

I had to replace my jack after about 30 years. No big deal. I suspect the MIM guitars use cheaper components than the MIA, so you would expect less life out of them.

I've never had a problem. I must be lucky in that respect. :?:
