A couple of days ago i picked up the nicest Tele I have ever played.

Now if you know me at all you know I have custom shop guitars, deluxes and American standards.

This Tele smokes 90% of them and its a MIM Standard.

This thing has the sweetest playing neck and tons of tone !!!!

There is so much flame on the maple you would swear it was a C/S guitar.

its a 2002 production line MIM completely stock.

I knew Fender steped up the quality in the MIM line, but man this is over the top.

I have not been able to put it down since it came home.

Its just a midnight wine with an all maple neck, the bridge pup is nothing to write home about but the neck pup is as jazzy clean and sweet as any I've played.

Just had to share with you guys, this guitar is awesome, i'll see if I can get a picture or two to post so you guys can drool later this week

The first thing I do when I look for a guitar is strum it unplugged and see if it comes alive or not, this one resonates like nothing I've ever seen.

I won't brag too much on the finish, you can see sanding marks on the edges under the paint.

Who cares ???? I'll most likely be the only one who ever gets that close and personal with it anyway.

All I can say is way to go Fender Mexico !!!!!

Here are a few pictures, they still don't do it justice.
flames wrap around the neck and on to the board.

The headstock is flamed as well.

Isnt that just a pretty neck !!!!

And it plays and sounds so nice.

Sparkle and Spank like you would expect from a much more expensive guitar for sure !!!!

Sure would love to go tour that Mexica plant myself.

Yes and it sounds so good too !!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if its possible that its more than a standard Tele ????

nothing else stands out except the tones, it does not sound as if its the typical bar magnet pups, it sounds as good as the AMSE pups I put in my old 52 reissue.

I did not buy this guitar new, I bought it from the original owner and CHEAP !!!!! and you would think he would have mentioned any upgrades.

I have yet to pull the neck or guard, next string change may give some hints.

I just got a 2008 Black maple tele and the neck wood is at the other end of the spectrum. The face of the neck is nearly perfect in appearance, no grain or knots, just pure, tight maple, but on the back, there's faint flaming like the one in your photos, you need a light to see it, there's a bit of maple sculpting on the back, but fret board is photo quality with the perfect tint. And yup, the mim tele feel and sound is unbelievable, Mexico's got it down. With the "new hot tele" pickups, you get two guitars, a hot tele wdie open and a normal tele if you turn down the volume. I was just shocked at the playability out of the box too. The finish was...so tele too...cheap, not perfect, but the playability, you just can't dispute the tele feel and sound. However, I did find my threshold with the guitar...I still got to play other guitars for different sounds, man don't live by tele alone unless he has too! If I had to pick one guitar today, I'd put a kayler hybrid trem, surface mount, no rout needed, full on trem and tone, on a tele.

Now I understand the mystic behind the tele, it's an ingenious sound in its raw state, now tweaking necessary.

Oh, and...I can't stop staring at my tele...why? I've got other guitars that look good, but this one...it's seems to be a visual art piece too, I get lost in it like I can a painting. weird.

Anyways, real nice guitar you got there! I can tell by looking at it it's a screamer.
