Hi folks, New here and just picked up a used Tele and had a couple of quick questions ... Its a 52 reissue that was originally purchased in Feb. '94, as the local music shop that sold it had the record of sale. The serial number is stamped in the bridge plate starting with A and 6 digits after with a 0 being the first digit. I can't find an actual date on the neck or neck seat but it does have TL-52EX stamped on the neck and L-52EM on the body. The stamps are not that great so some of them may not have been there in the first place. Does anyone know what the letters mean after the 52? Also the finish is, from what I can find, a Tobacco smoke Foto finish... front and back.. Is this good, bad or something worth hanging on to? It's in great shape and plays well with just a little neck and fret wear in the lower register... Any Help would be appreciated.. Thanks

Sounds kinda interseting. Got any pics you can post? Might give people a better chance of telling you what you've got.

Hi Hogboy and welcome, well if it wasn't too expensive and plays well then you made a good deal. If you could post pictures and the complete serial number you might risk to have more infos on it. Good luck. 8)

Congrats on your first Tele, but be careful, they are addictive. I thought I had my Tele addiction cured with 10 Teles, but #11 arrives on Tuesday 8)

Hi folks, Thanks for the reply's... The complete Ser.# is A067332 stamped on the bridge, and has Made in Japan on the back of the neck heel. I'll try and get some pic's posted, working tonight though. There is a twin pic off it on Xhefri's Foto Flames site... the Tobacco smoke 97 reissue. The guitar was a package deal with a 2 yr. old Fender Deluxe Reverb and the guitar. Have been told i got a great deal on a beautiful amp, and a free guitar... LOL Thanks again for the reply's.. Still curious what the letters stand for... ? HB

Go to Photobucket
open a free account
upload your photos there from your computer
copy the img address
paste the img address in your Fender lounge post
voila.

Once you're on the Photobucket site it is pretty simple.

Good luck. 8)

Thanks, Just love the guitar... and the amp is definatly an upgrade for me and sounds great!! Now i just need to learn how to really play!! I checked the neck well again and found both the neck and body have TL-52 EX stamped on each... and a triangle with an M in the middle of it... Not sure what that means but probably doesn't matter as its a keeper.. Thanks again.. HB
