I've got a 1966 Telecaster that is not functional right now. I'm bringing it back to life. Would Vintage Noiseless Pickups be a good option, and how hard would they be to install myself? Thanks guys.

Im not sure how noiseless pickups can be vintage. I think that`s more of a marketing thing. I think you will get many on here advising against noiseless pickups because they lack that special quality found in traditional single coils. But if you`re concern is noise, then I guess put em in. But if you want to keep with that true Fender sound, stick with single coils. There are many great pickups out there.

Fender Custom Shop
Lollar
Fralin
Joe Barden - which are noise canceling humbuckers - very bright and twangy.

If you have the original pickups and they work then leave them in the guitar! You want to leave everything original on a guitar that old. Any mod including changing a rusted screw devalues the guitar in the vintage collectors mind and wallet! If I had one of those I'd buy another guitar to play and put that one up or sale it! :)

I missed the part about not being functional but I'd have it appraised before doing anything.

The pickups are unusable. Trust me, if I could leave them in, I would. I don't plan on selling it, I plan on using it, so I want it to be up to spec. If you don't suggest Noiseless, then what would be nice for a guitar such as?

I would google that year and model to see what was original and buy some as close to spec as possible. That's just me though. Good luck. Nice problem to have!
