G'day.
I have a 60th Anniversary Special Edition Telecaster. It was made in Mexico, serial no. MZ 6239413. I bought it from a guy on the Gold Coast, Australia. At the time he did tell me what it was crafted from, that it was a rare South American timber. It looks like a burl type of timber. Like a goose I didn't write this info down. Now to insure my guitars I am trying to find out what it is and hope someone out in Fender land will be able to help.
Cheers from the Great Southern Land.
Shane.

It might be Bolivian Rosewood. It's popular for it's beauty and tone.

My Telecaster is basswood from USA which is also a great lightweight tonewood. I had it upgraded with better quality Machine heads from Fender. And a graphite nut and bridge saddles by graphtech. It's sweet. :)

That sounds like it could be a Factory Special Run (FSR) the 60th Anniversary Tele I am aware of where Alder and made in the U.S.A. and came with a Anniversary case and finished in a 3 color sunburst.

I think the guy I bought it from said it was Cabo something. It is definately Mexican. Below the tuning keys on the back of the peg head there is a small sticker saying Fender special edition, the serial number and M.I.M and right the tip there is a small round metal badge with Fender and 60 in a diamond shape. It is not a sunburst. It is a very dark, heavily figured timber, the guitar is fairly heavy for a tele.
Cheers
Shane.
