Describe your ultimate/favorite telecaster here. Color, make, etc are all good details. Or if you already own it, why not post a pic? :o

We'd all like to hear about it!

ASIDE - we all know that owning a vintage 60's tele would be awesome. Now that we have that established, let's have some originality!

I've got mine :D it's in my avatar. She is a dream to play, and the tone is Telecaster to a tee. Just my humble opinion of course

I'm in the process of building a dream Telecaster, as soon as I get back to collecting the rest of the parts I need. Got a Warmouth body that's routed for P90s, and is routed for a Strat/Strat-style tremolo. I'm planning to use a Seymour Duncan SP90-3 at the bridge, and a Seymour Duncan SP90-1 at the neck (same setup as the TC-90 and the JA-90). Switching will be with a 4-way, for series and parallel tones in the 2 and 3 positions. I found out, after I'd already bought my Warmouth body, that I should have ordered from USA Custom Guitars, as I could have got the body routed for a Jaguar/Jazzmaster tremolo system for no additional charge, where Warmouth considers that a "custom order."

After the above one is finished, I'll start in on another partscaster Tele, but using (MIJ) Jaguar pickups. Already bought the pickups from a buddy, via an eBay auction, so I'm a bit committed to seeing this one through. I'll have plenty of time to figure out the circuitry for this one. I've considered a 5-way switch, and I've considered typical Jaguar switching, although I may cook up my own happy medium having series/parallel selections through a blade switch, and phase switching via Jaguar-type switches. For this one, I'll make sure that I get a Jaguar/Jazzmaster tremolo, and I'll also use a 24" scale neck.

And then...there will be a partscaster 12-string Telecaster Deluxe in my future. For this one, I'll basically be building a reproduction Telecaster Deluxe from reproduction parts, except that I'll use a 12-string bridge and neck with 12-string headstock. Probably the only thing real Fender about that build will be the '72 Wide Range Humbuckers.

Matt

Hello Zepplinfan,

My new tele is still several months out
and my preferances change with regularity.
Right now my favorites are
1. Pearl white American Deluxe
2. Blonde JE Smith
3. Butterscotch American vintage '52 reissue

Hope I can finaggle some overtime.

Cheers.

My dream Tele would have to be a Strat.

I'm not a big fan of owning/playing Tele's, but I have seen some that look and sound really cool.

Hmm...

My Dream tele would be a mix of several teles:

Start with my 72 thinline

Add the white rim stripe, Aged Cherry Burst Maple paintjob, and body contours like on an like on an American Deluxe. (yes, I realize the body contours and the semihollow body probably wouldn't work, but its a 'dream' guitar..and in my dream, it works just fine)

Finish it off with the darker maple neck of a highway one and there you have it!

Honey Blonde body, black 3 ply pickguard, modern 9.25" C shaped neck with medium jumbo frets , biflex truss and a rosewood fretboard with mother of pearl inlay like on the G.E Smyth sig, modern 6 saddle bridge thru body, noiseless pickups with S1 Switching and schaller locking tuners

Drool...
