G'Day.
The other day when I was changing strings I decided to give my frets a polish and while doing so, decided to lift the pickguard and "have a look under the hood" so to speak.

I discovered 3 holes of varying diameter, all about 10mm deep just below the neck pickup cavity.

Anyone have any idea what they might be? It looks like someone just slipped (3 times) with the router when they were making the body. Doesn't really worry me as they're covered by the pickguard but was just wondering what they could be.

Cheers.

Those are holes used by the CNC machines to hold and cut out the guitar body shape. Nothing to worry about. :)

Thought it'd probably be something mundane like that!

Cheers.

you would think they would put the CNC holes in places where they would never be seen ( under a bridge on a tele, under the pickups, or use existing holes, such as those for pickups , knobs etc.

It would mean owners would have more choice to customize the guitar with differently shaped pickguards that might otherwise reveal ugly CNC machine holes. just an opinion.

Yep. For awhile I was going to use a American Deluxe body for my tele project and it had 2 of those if I remember correctly. (went with a CIJ 62RI because the vintage ashtray bridge would fit on it and I couldn't find an MIA 62RI on ebay)

Yeah, me too! My first thought was that I really hoped this thread was really about a guitar.
