Hello everyone, I own a 2007 standard tele MIM.
I want to install a full size humbucker in the neck position and I know I need to replace the pickguard to fit the 'bucker, but Does the standard tele have a humbucker hole in the neck position?
I've seen squiers that do.
That's my question, thank you.
-cheers

Sheesh! I don't think I'm gonna get any help soon...
I'll find somewhere else.

I own a 2004 MIM tele and I've had the pickguard off once. I seem to recall that the cavity was big enough, but I'm not 100% sure. It's super easy to take the pickguard off though: capo the strings at the 1st fret and then loosen them way off. Then just unscrew, and remove being careful not to break the solder joints holding the neck pup wires together.

I've heard that some do, some don't. Take it to a professional to have it done, if you can't though.

I have seen some stock pick up teles with the neck position routed for a soapbar pick up. I also have a friend who bought a MIM in the mid 90's that came stock with a full on humbucker. You can always route or Roto-zip a larger cavity if you're comfortable with power tools or have someone do it for you.

If not there's always the mini-humbuckers and hot rails/various single coil sized humbuckers.

My 2007/8 Standard Tele definately would NOT fit a full size humbucker at the neck. Cavity is just too small.

Ive got a tele project goin using a Hohner body which had a dimarzio single coil fitted at the neck. i agree a full size humbucker wudnt fit without major surgery to the body.

Am I missing something? Remove the screws, lift the pick guard and freakin' LOOK.
