Just wondering if I can get some advice.

I just had my Tele Highway One bridge replaced with a Joe Barden bridge. The 1st-3rd string sound muffled or soggy, but the wound strings sound great. I called my guitar tech back and he said he thinks the reason for this is because the strings need to work a groove into the brass saddles. He told me to call him back ini the middle of the week if the problem is still there and he would correct it. The cheap 3 barrel bridge my tele came with has grooves already in it from the factory and I didn't have these sound issues with that bridge.

Is this normal with brass saddles?

Is there a break in period for these types of bridges?

Can it be corrected?

Thanks
Kevin

Just came across this on another forum and might besomething to consider
especially the part where he discusses the mesurements. That to me sound like it could be the problem. And besides if that dosen't help just ask any of those guys what the problem and I'm sure someone can help.

What measurements are you referring to? And what guys or other forum are you referring to?

Thanks
Kevin

Just spoke with Joe Barden (well not Joe himself) and they seem to think the problem is with the nut. The Barden saddle is slightly thicker so will change the set up with the nut. I called my luthier back and he menitoned that he's cleaned up the nut currently on my guitar, but the 2,3rd strings are still not ringing out. He's now suggesting going with a Tusq nut which will greatly enhance string sound and sustain of my guitar, plus another charge for the nut and installation. :?

Anyone have any experience with Tusq nuts? Do they make that much of a difference? I didn't have any problems prior to changing the saddle.

Thanks for posting that. Intereting read. Althought I just checked my tele and the holes seem to be inline. The poster on the other forum was complaining about his high E slidding of the neck. Mine plays just fine, it's just the 2nd and 3rd strings are not ringing out. What I do know is, I didn't have this problem with the stock bridge.

What do others think about re-installing the stock bridge plate with Barden compensated saddles on in it? This is looking like a waist of money so far. :x
