I bought a 2007 Hwy 1 and it has a great feel to it, the neck is fantastic and the sound is awesome! The finish on the neck is fast fast fast, I love the feel of the satin finish, the body finish is nice but I don't know what all the hub bub is about. All in all it is a great guitar. I like it better than most of all the MIM tele's I've had. For the small amount of extra money over the price of MIM it is worth it, unless you don't keep them very long over the life time of the guitar that you own it is a very small amount of money.

I have a 100% unchanged 02 and wouldn't give it up for anythihng. In fact, the slightly muddy/warm sound is an ideal compliment to the 08 AmStd.

No issues with the construction or instrument quality and I use it quite a bit. I've never been dissatisfied with the Hwy 1 even though I also have an AmStd (and a couple of MIM Thinlines).

I couldn't agree with you more. I have an 05 highway 1 and an 08 AmStd and they are two different beast. The Highway 1 is nice warm and mellow, while the AmStd has more of a rock sound....

Highway ones are great guitars... if you play one at the store and dont like the action or the way it is setup well that has nothing to do with the quality of the instrument .... you would need to set it up to your likes for it to be even better but they are greats and I love the big frets plus the nitro finish is one of those sought out things :)

My 06 Highway One Texas Tele is fantastic. It is comfortable and easy to play and looks great. I did change out the pickups for a set of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, but I change out the pickups on every guitar I own. It's just something I do.
