I was considering buying a blemished American Standard Tele online from Guitar Center and wanted to know if anyone has ever done it, and what their experience was. The site doesn't detail what type of blemish is on the Tele, but they say that the blemishes don't affect playability. I just bought a fat strat, so I am poor, which is why I would like to save money on the tele if I can.

Hi,
Im pretty sure that the full warranty come with it as well as GCs return policy.
I've never purchased sight unseen before, but if it turns out to be a "dog" you should be able to send it back.

Bill

I have gotten all my high end guitars on the cheap as scratch and dents from MF and AMS. '62 Hot Rod, 2 EJs, PRS CE 24, SG Diablo, and Flying V
all came with full warranty, and 45 day return. Can't find anything wrong on any of them, I say go for it

Just think of it as getting some relic features for a discounted price.

Hello Connic01,

Sometimes when you call to order the
the person on the other end has
additional info on the "Scratch & dent".
I any event saving some cash is a good
reason to order. It's been previously stated
"You can always send it back"

Best of luck with it.

Cheers.

You have to sometimes watch out because the inventory on the websites doesn't always coincide with the actual inventory, especially the scratch and dents items. They may be out of an item that is listed as in stock. Sometimes its better to call in an order.

A friend of mine bought a scrath 'n dent bass. There was a barely noticeable spot near the pick up where the finish wasn't 100%. Well worth the $100+ he saved.

More times than not, they are perfect guitars that were returned in the 30-day period. Then they clean it up and send it to you. The only thing is that there was someone else between the factory and you that played your guitar. No biggie in my book, especially considering you can return it.

You can always send it back. Oftentimes these Blems or Scratch and Dents are just guitars that perhaps have been returned in perfect condition, but cannot be sold as Brand New since they have been sold already or something...
