Hello Gents,
I'm a new member here and would like to say hello to everyone.

I have a question. I just bought a Fender Tele American Deluxe Ash, and
it has S-1 switch system which doesn't do much on this guitar IMHO.
I'd like to gut out the control cavity and replace the S-1 stuff with a whole
new pots, caps, etc. I was looking at RS Guitarworks' Tele package:
http://www.rsguitarworks.net/rsstore/pr ... cts_id=211

Has anyone here used this on a Tele?

Oh, also is the body routed for neck humbucker under the pickguard???
Thanks in advance!

Hello, just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I just got my first tele a week or so ago so I can't answer your question. I've got a ash Deluxe strat with the S-1 system on it and I love it. I'm sure there are some posters on here that can help you. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum T50, I'm not much help in the techie dept. I have a Deluxe Tele with the S1 system, I have to say it makes quite a difference to my ears. Like I say I'm no expert, sorry I can't help more. But as Hop has mentioned, there are people on here who can no doubt assist.

Thanks for the help, gents.
After playing some more, I noticed that
S1 makes a difference when both pickups
are selected (mid position). But I still don't
hear the difference when one pickup is selected.
Maybe I don't pick up subtle changes in sound...

That's because you need to have both pickups active for it to work - it changes the circuit so they are wired in Series instead of the standard Parallel.

Hi Gents
New development on my new Tele:
I had noticed that the sharp fret ends were protruding out
along the neck and exchanged it with 52 RI Tele this afternoon.
I wanted another American Deluxe Tele, but the shop didn't
have another ash bodied Deluxe. So I tried out a 52 RI and
a Hot Rod 52 and decided on 52 RI. This one has a very light
resonant body with a smooth neck. I'm not so crazy about
how the neck pickup sounds like at the moment. I heard the
wiring is a bit "odd" on the 52 RIs???

Anyway, here's a few pics. :)

The 52 AVRI is a beauty isn't it? I'm new to one myself and have considered changing the wiring too. The neck position (no tone) was the original wiring set up so if you're a traditionalist - you may want to keep it as is. I like the "feel" and size of the neck too. Initially it felt a little sticky - but after a few weeks it moves up and down really nicely.

I also have a MIA Standard and like the flexibility of the modern wiring. You can turn the tone down on the neck pick up and it will almost sound the same.

Can I ask what the first digit on the bridge plate is?
