[b][i]Congratulations! I'm glad you were able to shave a few more bucks off the price every little bit helps especially these days.

I'm sure you're going to make this Tele you're favorite! Personally, as I've previously stated I think the "Aged Cherry" finish is one of Fender's best color to date! Once this bad boy is set up it's going to be tough to put down! Enjoy!

UPDATE:

So here's the guitar. It rocks so hard

Image

...but I did find one flaw. I think the guy who sold it to me tricked me when he said it was all original. Have a look at these tuners. The E/A tuners are not alike the other four. I'm assuming they don't come like this, right?

Image

Could someone confirm whether the tuners come like this? Either way they're still Fender's. I didn't notice the difference when I was looking at it b/c all 6 tuning keys were alike.

Still, awesome axe. I'm very happy with it aside from that one thing which kinda bothers me

Those are staggered tuners. they are stock, stock. designed to increase the break angle of the thinner strings, as they cross onto the headstock.

So there's 4 "staggered" tuners and 2 regular tuners, all of which come original with the guitar?

Sorry this is a new concept to me, on my old guitar all 6 tuners were identical

Yup, the staggered tuners are stock. You're still in good shape :D . That's just one of the bells and whistles Fender puts on that model as an upgrade. If an American Standard Telecaster is a Ford, than the American Deluxe is a Cadillac, and its little things like that that make it so. So if you didn't know about those before, consider it a nice suprise. Man, its almost like falling in love, isn't it?

I thought that the Deluxe tele came with locking tuners. Can you post a pic of the back of the headstock? The E and A tuners don't look like locking tuners, to much string wrapped around them. A very nice tele. Congrats!

Were they putting locking tuners on them in 04?

Thanks Python, that makes me feel alot better. And come to think of it I think locking tuners are a more recent upgrade. ALL GOOD :o

kinda like finding a nice used jacket at a great price, taking it home, and finding a fifty dollar bill in the pocket, huh?

Yeah, it's great :o

I think I may have actually found something that isn't original, though. The volume knob - while it looks identical to the tone knob - is unique in that you can push the top surface in a little, almost as if it were a button of some kind.

I'm not too mad about it though, it's just a knob.

It is a button. It is the S1 switch which allows different pickup options. Read the specs on the deluxe...

Gosh, I feel so stupid. This guitar came with so many bells and whistles that I've overlooked - each of them being an awesome surprise!

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but can anyone give me a basic breakdown of what the S-1 system does exactly? I've read something about switching from series to parallel, what does this mean? Until now I've always been playing with the button up (which has sounded amazing), but now I'm curious as to what other options I have :o

http://www.fender.com/products/s1/

here's the page from this very site.

I think the S-1 offers much more in a Strat, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at the extra sounds in a tele either. You have one sweet axe!!
