After reading some of the posts on the forum,it has got me thinking about when I purchased my Telecaster. I purchased an American Standard in 1994 and I had to buy a case for it. I have seen specs on other guitars that include a case or gig bag. Did they not do this in 1994? I'm not going to go crying to the store I purchased it at but I just want to know if I should have recieved a case and all its candy.

It seems to me that everytime that I've bought a Fender guitar (and I only buy from authorized dealers) that I've gotten the case with it too.

Sometimes the older G&G cases, some the old tight molded and others the newest style.

Yeah, something doesn't sound right. As far as I know, all MIA Fenders have always come with a hard case.

Yeah, but since he purchased it 15 years ago, I doubt there is anything that can really be done about it now...

Hello Yodacaster,

Shure enough you should have got case & candy,
but occasionaly when folks negotiate a "great deal"
dealers hang on to the case or at least try to.
This has happened to me a few times, I don't let
them off the hook---No case ----No deal.
15 years later  Time to let it go.

Cheers.

If the guitar is "second hand" you probably won't get any case candy. I've been extremely lucky though. I bought a mint 2000 Eric Clapton "Blackie," this model has the Gold Lace Sensor PUPS. The seller was kind enough to provide the "complete with case candy" [/i]and theoriginal bill of sale! I also bought a mint 2006 Aerodyne Black Strat and the seller also provided the gigbag and extras.

Regarding guitars bought new that are "MIM" or "MIJ" they should come with these items especially if the specs and description states they are to be included. I've bought a new "Nashville Deluxe Power Telecaster" MIM which came with the gigbag, user guide/warranty/registration card, hex wrench, strap, and polishing cloth. I usually purchase from Sweetwater or my local Sam Ash.

If these items weren't included when I'm ready to buy I won't hesitate to ask since they are supposed to accompany the purchase - you're paying for them. These items sometimes get lost when the guitar is on display or "light fingered in the stock room."

The only case candy I've ever received with a new Fender, is my DG Strat. I've bought four new Tele's in all, the most I ever got was a sticker. I also had to buy two of them case's. This is supposedly an authorised dealer too, very disappointing to be honest. I questioned the fact that two of them did'nt include a case, but was told no case included. If I hadn't been so into Telecaster guitars, I would have passed on the deals.

Telecasters are one of my favorite, how much would a standard one be?

I have no plans on trying to get a case. Just after reading all of these posts and reading specs I thought it was strange I had never received one. I was just curious to see if this was a new thing or if I should have gotten something. Its not a sour feeling, just curiousity.
