ive always been a fan of the tele bodies, but could never get over how small the headstocks are compared to the strats. does anyone know of a tele that comes with a headstock similar to the ones on the strats?

Yep. 72 Tele Deluxe.

Has a 70s Strat headstock so its about as big as you can get!

Cheers.

You might as well buy a Stratocaster. A tele is a tele, and its the mother of the strat, only created with the help of a couple of musicians and Leo Fender to "lighten" and streamline the Telecaster. I like both headstocks; my 1971 Stratocaster has the large '70's style. I think a Tele with this headstock looks like a mongrel. :?

Yea but is sounds so sweet. I'm convinced that the shape and size of the headstock does effect the sound to a small degree. I'm going to tell my 72 RI what you said!!! LOL.

I question if the headstock could make a difference in sound. I think the major difference in sound b/t the two Strats I own are the pickups, and to a lesser degree, the electronics. What difference could that large head stock make? Sustain longer? ? :?

I agree.

unless the headstock is the size of teh guitar itself and made from some strange material, its not gona change the sound.

i mean, if your worried about difference in sound caused by the headstock, then you should also think about the optimal way to hold a guitar, should you lean your hand on the front, or does that kill sustain by dampening the vibrations? does wearing a heavy jumper dampen vibrations when the guitar is leaning against it?

any sound difference caused by a headstocks wont be within the human audio register. it will not make a bit of difference.

its silly, just like all the scenarios i mention above.
