Hey guys, I've got a couple questions for you out there.
I recently purchased a '97 american telecaster and wanted some opinions of the experienced players.
1st:
I love the sound of my tele but I feel that because of my need for versatility I should change the pickups out. The 60 cycle hum is a little too much for the high gain post rock stuff I play but the stock pickups seem to work perfectly for all the other stuff I play. Any recommendations for keeping that sweet tele twang but killing the hum? (pickup wise)
2nd:
The little screws in the string saddles seem to dig in to my hand when palm muting. I personally find this to be quite annoying but I don't want to file them down for fear of not being able to adjust them in the future. Aside from taping over them I can't come up with any way to stop this from happening.

Aside from those two issues I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Especially since I got the (IMO) best telecaster color ever made... Inca Silver.

So I'd love to hear anyones thoughts.

Sounds like something from DiMarzio may be up your street bro.

As for the screws I have the same problem, thought about filing them down too.... or cutting them or just getting a smaller screw. If you are happy with your action and intonation where it is now then just get shorter screws cos you wont need to be adjusting that much anyhow.

You may be able to get the screws from Calaham Guitars in northern Virginia.

I emailed him a few weeks ago and he never replied but I think he is still in business.?

That sounds like the correct address. Perhaps my email was spammed out. Thanks for the phone number. I'll give him a call tomorrow if I can remember what it was I was looking for. LOL
