Hi all,

I'm looking at investing in a '72 Thinline Reissue and wanted to ask everyone for some advice.

Any thoughts regarding the guitar out of the box? Pros or cons?

I'd be using it for Byrds/McGuinn inspired rock and would love some input from serious Telecaster fans like myself!

Thanks!!!!!

i have a friend who swears by it, It is unique, a semi hollow body Tele with humbuckers...Cool
You should test drive (if you haven't already) Good luck!

I have a '72 Thinline and love it. Just know.....it's not a standard tele for the tele sound. But it has a deep, rich tone (just played mine yesterday). I've noticed that they are common in many music stores........so you should try to find one and play it for yourself. Also know.......it has a thick neck (I think it's the U-shape), which makes it more difficult to play than my strats (C-neck)......so give it a try, and judge for yourself. I'm jammed with it...and everybody seems to love the tone.

I love mine. I had some technical issues soon after I got it, but it only cost me 40 bucks to fix. If I was more handy I could probably have done the job myself.

From what I read, the original was designed to compete with the sound of the Les Paul, so dont expect any traditional Tele type of sound out of it.

Playing one would be the best bet, of course. And since most seem to be in the natural finish (never seen a sunburst or honeyblonde in a store) its always good to see what the grain looks like, asthetically speaking.

Originally the thinline was designed to keep weight down I believe, and you're right the 72 version was designed to compete with the gibson sound.. The 69 thinline is freakin sweet but I have never played the 72 but I would imagine it would be as awesome.
